Message So my state inspection sticker has been expired since Ausgust. I finally decided to take it in for inspection and try and pass as is. I don't have any of my emission components, (cats, egr, etc.) but I just wanted to see if it will pass. I do have a set of stock cats, but I'm too lazy to swap them in.

Anyways, got to the inspection station and pulled her in. The inspector stuck the sniffer in the tail pipe and had me start the car. He had a puzzled look when he opened up the hood. He asked where the spark plug wires were at, and I told him it was direct ignition with no plug wires. He ended up using some sort of device that measures the vibration on the car and converts it to rpms. I had to sit in the car and control the engine speed while the machine did the test. The machine went thru the test twice, but the car eventually passed.

Numbers are as folows:

High speed test: (2200-2800rpm)

HC std:220 reading:98 result:PASS
CO std:1.20 reading:0.73 result:PASS
CO2 reading:14.0
O2 reading:0.9
NOx reading:0.00
Dilution std:>6 reading:14.7

Low speed test: (819 rpm)

HC std:220 reading:210 result:pass
CO std:1.20 reading:0.48 result:pass
CO2 reading:13.8
O2 reading:1.2
NOx reading:0.00
Dilution reading:14.3

I guess if your car is running well and has a good tune, it should pass emissions testing.
